Ketorolac tromethamine, 30
Ketorolac tromethamine is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for short-term management of moderate to severe pain, especially post-surgical. It works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis to control inflammation, pain, and fever. Available in oral, injectable, and ophthalmic forms, it is rapidly absorbed and has a half-life of approximately 4 to 6 hours, primarily excreted via the kidneys. It is contraindicated during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and in patients with renal impairment or gastrointestinal ulcers. Prolonged use or high doses may lead to GI bleeding, renal dysfunction, or allergic reactions. It should not be co-administered with other NSAIDs, anticoagulants, or diuretics. Dosage should be reduced in elderly patients or those under 50 kg. Ketorolac may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or visual disturbances; driving should be avoided during use. Use beyond 5 days is not recommended.
